Project description
The Schüller Möbelwerk KG is realizing an expansion of its production facility at the company headquarter in Herrieden. The company commissioned PLAN FORWARD GmbH with the general planning for the new construction of a parking garage. Its sister company under the umbrella of WOLFF GRUPPE GmbH, W+P Gesellschaft für Projektrealisierung mbH, was commissioned with the project management of the entire project, consisting of the production expansion, the construction of the new parking garage, infrastructure measures as well as compliance with the specified nature conservation and flood protection measures.
The preparatory work for the parking garage as well as for the necessary infrastructure measures started in January 2019. After a total of just under 15 months of construction, the parking garage was completed and is already in full operation. The existing parking spaces at ground level were relocated to the multi-level parking garage. This means that the previous parking area can be converted into a construction area.
The new multi-story, above-ground parking garage was built in parallel with the first construction phase of the major project directly adjacent to the main access road, as the ground-level existing parking spaces had to be relocated for the production expansion. The 5-story parking garage with 11 mezzanine levels has a gross floor area of approx. 52,000 m² and provides parking for 1830 cars, 70 motorcycles and 448 bicycles.
The visual highlight is the façade, which is formed by open rhombuses of steel U-sections that are planted with vegetation by means of climbing aids made of stainless steel cables. In the second stage of the production expansion two additional production halls will be added. A high-bay warehouse will complete the production facility of Schüller Möbelwerk KG in the third expansion phase.
The completion of the parking garage marks another important milestone in the large-scale project. Completion of the first construction phase is scheduled for September 1, 2021.
