Project description

The city of Remscheid is initially planning the construction of extensions for three schools at their existing locations. In addition to the "Roentgen-Gymnasium", the "Gertrud-Baeumer-" and "Leibnitz Gymnasien" will also be extended. The WOLFF GRUPPE-companies have been commissioned with the general planning of all three construction projects.

A new building is being added to the Röntgen Gymnasium in Remscheid. The two-storey building with covered outdoor areas will be implemented as an independent new building with a direct connection to the existing premises. Access and barrier-free access will be via the existing schoolyard. Additionally the building will be accessible via Röntgenstraße.

The new building is planned as a rectilinear cubature with a flat roof. In the interests of sustainability, the roof will be extensively greened and equipped with a PV system.

The foyer can be reached directly via the covered main entrance, from which all the uses on the ground floor can be accessed. In addition, an open staircase in the foyer and two emergency staircases lead to the upper floor. The existing facilities, such as the existing canteen and the atrium building, can be reached via the air-permeable covered outdoor areas.

Two learning areas are planned for each floor of the building.  On the ground floor, 6 classrooms with sanitary facilities are located next to the main entrance. A preparation room and a differentiation room are also planned. A further 6 classrooms and a computer room for the students will be located on the upper floor. There will also be a preparation and differentiation room as well as sanitary facilities.

The new building is scheduled for completion in 2026.
