Project description
In late summer 2016, the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz, SPK) commissioned the temporary new exhibition building "Pergamonmuseum. The Panorama." The commissioning was preceded by a Europe-wide tendering process in which the Interimsbau Pergamonmuseum Realisierungsgesellschaft mbH (IPR), a company of the WOLFF GRUPPE GmbH, prevailed.
The company (IPR), founded especially for the project, took over the holistic, interdisciplinary implementation. The service ranged from further planning after the building permit had been granted, through awarding and execution, to complete project financing. In doing so, IPR drew on the expertise of the WOLFF GRUPPE subsidiaries: W+P Gesellschaft für Projektrealisierung mbH for project and construction management, and PLAN FORWARD GmbH for planning services.
The temporary exhibition building is located opposite the Bode Museum, on the so-called “Museumshöfe”, and is within walking distance for visitors to the Museum Island. It serves as an alternative location for various exhibitions on topics that cannot be shown due to renovation, because since 2012 the Pergamon Museum has been repaired and expanded in sections during ongoing operations as part of the "Museum Island" master plan. Since summer 2018, the new building has attracted visitors with the first exhibition and significant elements of the currently inaccessible part of the museum.
