Project description

The city of Remscheid is initially planning the construction of extensions for three schools at their existing locations. In addition to the "Gertrud-Bäumer-Gymnasium", the Röntgen- and Leibnitz "Gymnasien" will also be extended. WOLFF GRUPPE has been commissioned with the general planning of all three construction projects.

The Getrud-Bäumer-Gymnasium in Remscheid is being extended by a two-storey, non-basement specialist room wing. The straight-lined new building will be directly connected to the existing dining hall in the existing schoolyard.

The main entrance leads directly into an open, communicative entry hall, enabling easy orientation within the building. All rooms in the basement can be accessed from the foyer, and an open, generously designed staircase leads to the floor above.

The rooms for the students - a classroom, an associated differentiation room and the sanitary facilities - are all located on the ground floor, next to the main entrance. There are also two technical rooms and a small storage area. Furthermore, the former staff room in the existing building is to be converted into a classroom and differentiation room.

The existing dining hall will be retained and can be accessed via the new foyer in future. A further classroom and a staff room are also planned for the first floor of the new building.

The new building will be quickly and easily accessible for students and teachers via a corridor adjoining the existing building.

In order to meet the high standards of sustainability, a PV system and extensive greenery are planned for the roof area of the new building.

The new building is scheduled for completion in 2026.
