Project description

PLAN FOWARD GmbH realized a new commercial building project for Classic Car Refugium Immobilien GmbH in Filderstadt, which creates the perfect touch point for all lovers of classic cars and high-quality motor vehicles. In addition to a special workshop for classic cars and youngtimers, the Classic Car Refugium is home to a vehicle care facility. At the same time, around 3,500 square meters of parking space with controlled ambient conditions in terms of humidity and temperature are available for the discreet and secure storage of high-end vehicles and vehicle parts.

The 400 tons of steel, 3,000 cubic meters of concrete and 53 kilometers of cable used for the new building form a 6,000-square-meter area distributed over five levels. The modern and well thought-out utilization concept across the various levels of the structure was developed in close consultation with the tenants and the city of Filderstadt.

In many respects, the new building is an ecological showcase project that combines architectural and environmental features (KfW 55) and meets the high standards in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency in a special way. This applies to both the building design and the integrated building services engineering. As a result, it was possible to undercut the specifications of the current EnEV 2014 by 45 percent.

The building can be circulated on all sides, is largely air-conditioned. Only the lower floor has windows, gates and a facade made of curtain-type fiber cement. The upper portion of the building facade is constructed of non-combustible metal panels. Most of the roof is green and a PV system generates electricity for the building's own use.

Special architectural touches were added in the showroom and reception area. The rest of the premises is dominated by a modern and streamlined industrial style.

A BIM-oriented 3D building design improved the collaboration of all parties involved.
