Architectural Competition For the Extension of The High Tech Campus in Villach, Austria
The Villach Technology Park (TPV) in Austria is home to both the University of Applied Sciences and the Fortbildungszentrum (Continuing Education Center) of the State of Kärnten as well as various companies. The existing and future building areas in the Technology Park are arranged loosely in an island-like manner.
In the design of WOLFF GRUPPE, up to four similar structures form the High Tech Campus (HTC) and represent an extension of the TPV within the "building islands". The structures mark the respective corners and access points from the outside. The structures, each with three full floors, enclose the inner courtyard. Two almost identical floors are located above the first floor, which accommodates all special functions and the laboratories. This first floor is characterized by its unique layout and additional room height.
In addition to the building’s services areas, the basement also houses storage rooms. The linear arrangement of the laboratories allows for flexible subdivision. Inside the building, shielded from daylight, are the special areas that are sensitive to light and temperature. The new buildings are used by various companies.
WOLFF GRUPPE GmbH merges PLAN FORWARD GmbH, W+P Gesellschaft für Projektrealisierung mbH, and ARIQQA GmbH into a single legal entity under its umbrella, in accordance with Sections 2 and 20 of the German Transformation Act (Umwandlungsgesetz – UmwG). The business activities of the previously independent companies are fully continued within WOLFF GRUPPE GmbH under the business divisions PLANNING, MANAGING and CONSULTING.
