Project description
The plans for the new construction of Essen stadium, which was completed in 2014, already included a possible further extension at a later point in time. Now the time has come.
After the WOLFF GRUPPE-Team had already successfully realized the new construction of Essen Stadium in proven collaboration as general planner and project manager, the client has now once again commissioned WOLFF GRUPPE with the extension of the stadium.
The extension of the stadium corners will create additional capacity for the home turf of the Rot-Weiss Essen soccer club. At the same time, the guidelines of the German Football Association for the 2nd league and the requirements of UEFA Category 4 will be met.
The total capacity will be expanded to 27,000 seats, including approx. 14,600 seats and a further 5,400 possible mobile seats. In addition, the business areas, the office and the ancillary areas will be expanded. The interdisciplinary WOLFF GRUPPE-team will once again be responsible for the challenging construction project, which will be implemented during ongoing match operations.
Construction work on the extension is due to start at the beginning of 2026.
WOLFF GRUPPE GmbH merges PLAN FORWARD GmbH, W+P Gesellschaft für Projektrealisierung mbH, and ARIQQA GmbH into a single legal entity under its umbrella, in accordance with Sections 2 and 20 of the German Transformation Act (Umwandlungsgesetz – UmwG). The business activities of the previously independent companies are fully continued within WOLFF GRUPPE GmbH under the business divisions PLANNING, MANAGING and CONSULTING.
