Facade, technical room and fire protection renovation at Broich SchoolCenter in Mülheim an der Ruhr

The city of Mülheim an der Ruhr commissioned PLAN FORWARD GmbH and W+P mbH, both companies of the WOLFF GRUPPE Holding GmbH, with the general planning and object planning for the renovation and new construction measures at the Broich School Center. 

The large scale project comprises the new extension of the “Gymnasium” in 2014 and the “Realschule” in 2019 as well as an interim building in 2019. In the final phase of the project, the facade, specialist rooms and fire protection refurbishment of the two existing schools is carried out. The “Realschule” will receive an additional single-story extension in the course of the construction measures.  

The basic design of the façade renovation is based on the extension to the high school built in 2014 and, in addition to eliminating structural defects, will give the school campus a new and uniform appearance. Furthermore, the fire protection in all buildings and the technology in the specialist rooms will be updated to the latest standards. 

In order to minimize the temporary relocation of school operations in containers, the planned new extension to the “Realschule” was moved up and already completed in 2019. Seven subject rooms and 16 classrooms can thus be used during the renovation measures. An additional container interim building, which will be dismantled once all work has been completed, will provide eight classrooms and additional administrative rooms. 

Completion is planned for the end of 2021.
